01 — About Halberd

Twenty-three yearsof counsel,unbroken.

Halberd is an independent advisory firm to executive teams. We were founded on a simple conviction: that strategy is the product of discipline, not deck-count — and that the firm writing the memo should be prepared to help run it.

02 — Our Mission

We exist to makeserious workeasier to decide.

Executive teams are asked to make fewer decisions of greater consequence than ever before. Our mandate is to shorten the time between a hard question and a defensible answer — without shortening the distance between principal and client.

  • Independent ownership — no conflicts, no referrals, no audit.
  • Principals in the room from first brief to final handover.
  • Written recommendations, read aloud to the board.
  • Engagements measured in outcomes, not invoices.

04 — A Brief History

Two decades ofdeliberate growth.

Halberd opened with four partners and a single mandate. We have grown on the pace that our retention rate allows — and no faster.

2003 · Founding

Halberd opens on Fenchurch Street with four partners from tier-one houses and a charter to advise without selling delivery.

2009 · First international office

Park Avenue opens after three consecutive years of North American mandates — staffed exclusively by partners relocating from London.

2015 · Digital practice

We formalize a digital transformation practice after leading two core banking replatforms. Hired from industry, not from systems integrators.

2020 · ESG advisory

A dedicated ESG and transition-risk practice launches in Frankfurt, serving boards ahead of the CSRD regulatory cycle.

2024 · AI enablement

AI enablement is added as a cross-practice capability — advising on use-case selection, vendor posture, and governance for the board agenda.

05 — Leadership

Principals whostay in the roomthrough execution.

Every engagement is led by a partner with at least two decades of operating and advisory experience — and delivered by the same small team from brief to handover.

06 — How We Work

Four principles,applied plainly,applied often.

We don't publish a values deck; we publish a way of working. Every partner is asked to apply it to every engagement — and measured against it at year-end.

Independence

No audit arm, no systems integrator to feed. We take a view on the right course of action, not on what is most billable.

Rigor without theatre

Analytical rigor is non-negotiable; slide count is optional. Twenty pages of defensible argument beats two hundred of decoration.

Plain language

If a recommendation cannot be explained to the sponsor in one paragraph, it is not yet a recommendation. We rewrite until it is.

Implementation loyalty

The team that writes the memo is the team that runs the first six months of execution. Advice and accountability are not separable.

07 — Where We Work
