Our story

A studio builton the work wewere proud to sign.

Noir opened in 2016, after two of us walked out of a large agency with a small list of rules. First rule: never present work we wouldn't put our own name on. Second rule: never pitch against a dozen other studios. Third rule: the people who sold the work are the same people who make it. Ten years later the rules have held. We've turned down more work than we've taken. We've kept the studio at seven because that's the biggest room we can fit around a monitor. The work, we think, is the better for it.

How we think

Mission,vision, values.

Three sentences we'd put on the wall if we hung anything on walls.

01 · Mission

Make work worth signing.

Every piece that leaves the studio carries two names and a date. If it can't, it doesn't leave.

02 · Vision

Outlast the launch.

Design for the ten-year mark, not the reel. Identities that age, products that stay in use, films people save.

03 · Values

Say the harder thing.

Quiet rooms and honest reviews beat any agency theater. We ship on Fridays, not on Mondays.

Two desks, one rule

Aleksandra and Jonas open the studio out of a shared flat in Nørrebro. The rule: never present work we wouldn't sign.

First named identity ships

Meridian Architects — 40-person practice, 14-week engagement, the first wordmark that still runs on our site.

Studio grows to seven

We stop at seven. It's the biggest room we can fit around a single monitor, and it sets the project ceiling for good.

First Grand Prix

Atlas Foundation launch film takes a D&AD Wood Pencil. We mention it once on the site and never again.

Ten years in

120 projects, 40 clients, 12 awards. The rules from 2016 have not moved. The work, we think, is better for it.

The seven

The room,with faces on.

No account managers, no junior bench. Every project is worked end-to-end by the people on this page.
