Admissions

The answers we giveon the phone anyway.

Six questions the admissions office fields every week, answered the way we would answer them if you called the studio.

Fifteen to twenty pieces, and we would rather see six projects thought through than twenty finished surfaces. Include the sketchbook pages and the version that did not work — tutors read process faster than polish. Photographs of physical work are fine; no need to rebuild anything digitally.

Eight full-fee places a year, decided on portfolio and a short written statement, with no separate application. Household income is assessed after the offer, never before it — the panel does not see it while judging the work.

Yes, into the second year, and roughly a third of each cohort arrives that way. Bring a transcript and the portfolio you made on the other course; we map it to the Foundations term and tell you within two weeks what carries over.

We do not run halls. We keep a vetted list of eleven landlords within a twenty-minute walk, hold a housing evening in July, and pair every incoming student with a second-year who has already found a room.

Visiting days run the first Thursday of each month, capped at twelve people so you actually get to talk to someone. You sit in on a crit, walk the studio floor while it is being used, and leave with a tutor's email.

Portfolios close 15 January for the September intake, with interviews through February and offers out by 20 March. We hold a small number of places for late applicants until June — email admissions rather than assuming it is closed.
  • Every application is read by two tutors — never by a filter.
