Pocket glossary

Six words that get you the haircut you meant.

Shorter towards the ears and the neck, with the edge left soft. The safe answer when you are unsure.

A taper taken all the way down to skin. Low, mid or high says how far up the head it climbs.

A clipper guard: six millimetres of hair. Each number adds three, so a number 4 leaves twelve.

No clippers at all. It is slower and softer, and it is the quietest cut we do.

Cut into the ends so hair sits loose instead of flat. Kind to cowlicks and fine hair.

The shape of your neckline. Square looks sharper on day one, round grows out more gently.
