Nine suites above a working fishing cove on the Côte de Jade. Sea-salt linen, stone floors, a table that opens at dusk. Maison Latitude takes guests by the week — never by the day.
We built Maison Latitude slowly. The stone came from a quarry thirty kilometres inland. The linen is woven by a co-operative in Finistère. Breakfast is whatever our neighbour landed at first light. Nothing is luxurious for its own sake — it simply took its time.
Every suite looks on to the Bay of Biscay. Three face the cove, three the orchard, three the low cliff. Pick any of them and know that the others are — intentionally — quite close by.
Stone balcony hanging over the cove. King bed, freestanding bath, private sea steps. Sleeps two; breakfast on the terrace at 8.
Orchard-side room with french doors on to the garden. Queen bed, reading chair, linen day-bed for three. Breakfast in the kitchen.
Top-floor cliff suite with wide horizon. Super-king bed, open-plan sitting room, outdoor shower under the pine. Sleeps two; dinner included on request.
Once a week, at the correct moon, Pierre-Yves takes two or three guests on to the beds. Rubber boots, a knife, an hour of his grandfather's stories. You come back with lunch.
Our chef Amélie cooks what the boats brought in — four courses, natural wines from neighbours, one shared table. Open to house guests first, then to the village. It finishes when the coffee is cold.
Take the old customs path south. We pack you bread, saucisson from the village, goat cheese, a small bottle of Muscadet. Be back before dusk — the light from the cove is the reason you booked.
We came for three nights and changed the flight. The whole house slows you down by the second morning — the bread, the quiet, the knowing everyone by name before lunch.
Architect, Bordeaux. Returned in October with her daughter.
Our book fills in a weekend. Returning guests hold priority until the end of January; we release the rest to the general list.
Fifty minutes by car from Nantes Atlantique airport. Four hours by TGV from Paris-Montparnasse, then a short taxi from Saint-Nazaire. We'll pick you up from the station if you let us know the train.
